"Immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine"

In 2021, Baja Missions established a college scholarship fund for the young adults of the congregations we support. 

In Mexico, the tuition cost for public universities can be around $200 U.S. dollars per semester depending on the field of study. Our aim is to cover a portion of this cost to help young people achieve their dreams.

For many of our scholarship recipients, attending college represents an opportunity that previous generations of their families did not have.  Many of the communities we serve in Baja have been shaped by agriculture and migration. We are blessed to know many families that have come from southern states thousands of miles away like Oaxaca in search of work, with generations of parents working hard in the agricultural fields to provide greater opportunities for their children.

In San Quintín, one of Baja's largest agricultural regions and where Baja Missions began, 27.2% of the population experienced educational deprivation in 2020—the highest percentage of any municipality in the state.¹ Working in the fields or produce packing plants often takes young people out of school at the middle or high school age in order to work and help their families.

Against this backdrop, continuing an education beyond high school is a significant accomplishment. Even when students earn admission to a university, expenses such as tuition, transportation, books, supplies, and technology can make completing a degree difficult for families with limited resources.

That's where the Baja Missions College Scholarship Program comes alongside them.

​

Through scholarships and encouragement to remain involved in their local congregations, we invest in young men and women who are working toward their educational and professional goals. Our students are pursuing degrees that can open doors not only for themselves, but also for their families and communities.

For a student who may be the first in their family to attend college, a scholarship represents more than financial assistance. It says, we believe in the unique gifts God has given you, and we want to help you take the next step as you live out Ephesians 3:20, “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.” We know it is God who provides generously through our supporters which directly helps the students.

We are so proud to have celebrated with many students who have now graduated since starting this program. In 2026, the program supported over 40 students in the fall and spring semesters.
